Controls and Display Issues

This article covers common questions about abnormal desktop-pet positions, display problems, click interactions, and chat features.

Q1: The desktop pet moved off-screen or disappeared below the taskbar. I cannot find it.

A1: Right-click the desktop pet's tray icon in the bottom-right corner of the taskbar, then select Reset Position and Status to return it to a visible area of the screen.

Note: Reinstalling the game does not fix this problem. The position is stored in the settings file, which is not removed during reinstallation.

Q2: The pet disappears after I play another game for a while, but Alt+Tab shows that it is still running.

A2: The pet may have moved beyond the edge of the screen. Right-click the tray icon and select Reset Position and Status. You can also configure an activity area in Settings to prevent the pet from leaving the screen.

Q3: The pet disappears after I move it and reappears only when I select Reset.

A3: Its position may be assigned to a display that no longer exists, such as a previously connected monitor. Open Settings and reset the position to the primary display.

Q4: The desktop pet blocks my view while I play another game. How can I move it behind the game?

A4: Disable Always on Top in Settings. A true fullscreen game covers the desktop pet; use Borderless or Windowed Fullscreen mode if necessary.

Q5: The walking animation plays, but the pet does not actually move.

A5: Check the following settings:

  1. Confirm that Allow Movement is enabled.
  2. If Smart Movement is enabled, try disabling it and observe the result.
  3. Developer mode may leave settings in an unexpected state if it was enabled accidentally. Re-enable movement or adjust the Smart Movement options in Settings.

Q6: The pet's walking animation mostly stays in place and rarely changes position.

A6: Confirm that both Allow Movement and Smart Movement are enabled. If the issue continues, drag the pet to the center of the screen and observe it again, or send the developers a report with a screen recording.

Q7: Why does the animation frame rate look low?

A7: The game uses frame-by-frame animation. If every animation looks the same way, this is normal. Live2D animation support is planned for a future update.

Q8: What should I do if animations stutter?

A8: If every animation stutters, the cause is usually a program-performance limitation. Check CPU and memory usage in Task Manager. If only a specific animation stutters, report it to the developers.

Q9: How do I change the desktop pet's size?

A9: Adjust the pet's scale in the game settings.

Q10: How do I display the desktop pet on another monitor?

A10: You can drag the pet manually to any display. You can also choose its allowed display area in Settings.

Q1: I cannot drag the desktop pet.

A1: Dragging is triggered by pressing and holding the head area, not another part of the body.

Note: You can adjust the Long-press Trigger Time in Settings. If the pet does not respond at all, check whether mouse pass-through mode is enabled.

Q2: I cannot click the desktop pet or open the interaction panel, and I cannot turn off mouse pass-through.

A2: Right-click the desktop pet's tray icon in the bottom-right corner of the taskbar and select Mouse Pass-through to turn it off. You can also disable it manually in Settings.

Q3: The desktop pet is attached to the mouse cursor and will not detach.

A3: Click the mouse at the attachment point to release it.

Q4: Clicking the desktop pet does not produce dialogue or trigger chat.

A4: Chat has a cooldown of approximately 20 seconds. Try again after the cooldown ends, or check whether the Speaking Interval has been set too high.

Q5: What is the progress bar below the dialogue box?

A5: It is the countdown until the available chat content is refreshed.

Q6: The chat bar disappeared. What does the Custom button do?

A6: The chat bar appears only after a speaking method is selected in Settings. You can choose the official option-based dialogue system, or subscribe to a third-party Steam Workshop plugin such as ChatGPT and enable it in Settings.

The Custom button lets you add shortcuts configured in Settings. Some MODs also use this area.

Q7: The desktop pet rarely starts dancing. How can I change the trigger frequency?

A7: Both of these conditions must be met: ① the volume must exceed the configured threshold; and ② the pet must be idle. Dancing is not triggered while the pet is working or performing another action.

If it rarely triggers, reduce the volume threshold in Settings. A displayed value of -1 means that volume capture is not supported.

Q8: Right-clicking the desktop pet does not open a menu, or some menu options are missing.

A8: Some actions are available only in specific states. Check whether mouse pass-through is enabled, and confirm that a MOD has not changed the right-click menu.

Q9: The interaction menu opens when I click the desktop pet, but its options are disabled.

A9: Some interactions are unavailable while the pet is working, sleeping, or in another busy state. Wait until it returns to idle and try again.

Q10: The activity log contains untranslated text such as al_console, al_petsay, or another identifier beginning with al_.

A10: The MOD is missing the required language pack. English players should select the appropriate English language setting and confirm that the enabled MOD includes an English language pack. Chinese players can select Zh-Hans (Simplified Chinese) or Zh-Hant (Traditional Chinese). If the MOD is outdated, try updating or disabling it.
